GBA Sound Format

GSF

GSF is an emulated Game Boy Advance audio format based on
Neill Corlett's PSF (Portable Sound Format), developed by Caitsith2 and Zoopd.

GSF files appear as either .minigsf or .gsf, mostly being of the former.
The .gsflib should be extracted into the same directory as the .minigsf files.

These emulated audio files can be played on the Windows platform using Nullsoft's Winamp
and the Highly Advanced plugin. Mac OS X users can play them using Audio Overload v2.0b7
or later. Linux users can use PlayGSF, or the port of Highly Advanced to Audacious.

The players convert the files internally into a Game Boy Advance ROM that is then run through a cut down emulator with
no support for graphics hardware.
Even without support for graphics, though,
emulation of the Game Boy Advance can be quite processor intensive, and neither program works well on machines under 500 MHz.

Game Boy Micro

Game Boy Micro

The Game Boy Micro retains some of the functionality of the Game Boy Advance SP,
but with an updated form factor. It is unable to play original Game Boy and Game Boy Color games,
and is officially incompatible with the Nintendo e-Reader and some other peripherals because of
design issues (the required Zilog Z80 chip is not included, as it was on the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance SP). It is smaller than previous Game Boy systems. Additionally, it features a backlit screen with the aptatude to adjust the brightness so as to adapt to lighting. The shape itself is kept to a more simple oblong―just like the style of the Nintendo Entertainment System controller.

The Game Boy Micro features a removable face plate that enables customers to purchase alternative designs.
